Thankfully, Las Vegas also has a number of quiet suburbs to offer that rival any quiet, somewhat boring suburb in the U.S. The two largest suburbs in Las Vegas are Summerlin and Henderson. Summerlin is largely considered to be not just a suburb but also basically just one large neighborhood with a population of just over 100,000. Henderson, on the other hand, is broken down into several smaller neighborhoods.

Green Valley
Green Valley is one of the largest communities in Henderson, which is divided into three different neighborhoods; Green Valley Ranch, Green Valley North and Green Valley South. Green Valley Ranch is by far the smallest and most exclusive of the three communities, although still fairly affordable based on national averages. With a population of right around 20,000, Green Valley Ranch is considered to be a sparsely populated suburb, with plenty of room between homes. With a median income coming in at just under $100,000 and median home prices coming in just under $370,000, homes are still considered to be fairly affordable for the area.
Green Valley North is the largest community with a population of around 50,000 and a median income of around $75,000, while Green Valley South boasts a population of around 30,000 and a median income of just under $80,000. Median home prices in both Green Valley North and Green Valley South hover at just under $300,000 but both neighborhoods are considered to be dense suburbs, so tracts won’t be quite as large. While all three neighborhoods are suitable for families, Green Valley North tends to be more popular with younger couples and families, while Green Valley Ranch is without question the more high end and exclusive community, which is also the most family friendly.
Westgate
Located just slightly southwest of Green Valley Ranch, Westgate is similar to Green Valley Ranch but just slightly more affordable. With a median income of around $88,000, the median price for homes in Westgate is right around $360,000. Westgate is also considered to be a very family friendly community that also ranks high for safety and is a sparse suburb. If you’re looking for fairly large tracts and a quiet community but can’t quite afford Green Valley Ranch, then Westgate might be right for you.
MacDonald Ranch
MacDonald Ranch is located just slightly to the southeast of Green Valley Ranch. While home prices and median incomes go just slightly down in Westgate, they go slightly up in MacDonald Ranch. With a median household income of just under $100,000 and median home prices of just over $400,000, MacDonald Ranch is perhaps one of the best places in Henderson to live but not necessarily the best for families. MacDonald Ranch boasts a population of just over 20,000 but they are predominantly made up of retirees. Although MacDonald Ranch offers a quiet community with safe streets and homes set on large tracts of land, if you are looking for a great place to raise a family, you might want to stick with Green Valley Ranch.
